If you want to beat the big business lobbyists, you need to act. [Posted at 02/16/2011 07:11 AM by John Bennett on Against Monopoly Comments This comment is actually for the Salinger article, but the site's periodic glitch with cutting off the bottoms of articles has afflicted that one and as a result its comment submission form is missing -- the page ends with the words "Submit Comment".
The bulk of the book was written when the litigious Salinger was still alive, but I can't help wondering if his heirs might have proved a little more relaxed about quotation. Doubtful, given what those same heirs did to the unauthorized sequel to Catcher in the Rye. [Comment at 02/16/2011 07:50 AM by Nova] Sure why not.
P.S. Fantastic blog you have here sir. [Comment at 02/16/2011 04:32 PM by Anonymous] Against Net-Neutrality
As a recent column in the Wall Street Journal reminds us, online freedom is jeopardized in the name of "net neutrality" (The FCC's Threat to Internet Freedom). This is just another case of the state re-labeling things to sound benign but that are really invasions of liberty and property rights-another good example being use of the term "intellectual property" to masque the true nature of state-granted monopoly privilege rights... [Comment at 02/17/2011 05:03 AM by Tracy] This actually belongs on the "Outrage spreads ..." story but the site's page-truncation bug has hit that article and, once again, the page ends right after the words "Submit Comment" and right before the actual submission form. So I'm forced to put this here instead.
Isn't it normally the case that a photograph taken by a professional photographer hired by a family is a "work for hire" and the family has the copyright, not the photographer? [Comment at 02/19/2011 01:08 PM by Nova] Works as designed. Some posters do not want comments on their posts. Notably Justin Levine. You will not be able to comment on any of Justin's posts. [Comment at 02/19/2011 02:02 PM by Kid] Works as designed Balderdash. It cannot possibly be intended that there be pages that prominently say "Submit Comment" on them but don't have any form on them for entering said comment. That cannot logically be anything but a computer error. Now fix it, immediately. [Comment at 02/20/2011 04:25 AM by Nova] Works as designed, but not as expected. [Comment at 02/20/2011 01:56 PM by Kid] Works as designed Baloney. It cannot possibly be intended that there be pages that prominently say "Submit Comment" on them but don't have any form on them for entering said comment. That cannot logically be anything but a computer error. Now fix it, immediately. [Comment at 02/20/2011 07:19 PM by Nova] Submit Comment |
