I would say the petition is not doing very well.

First, and most important, Congress has the power to regulate IP, not the president. The petition really should be directed to Congress.

Second, the petition is only directed to federal IP, not international or state IP. So, eliminate federal IP; you are still going to have trade secret law and state trademarks, both of which currently exist. Furthermore, if Congress eliminates patents, it is highly likely that states will take that as an abdication of federal authority and reinstitute state patents, which is what we had before IP was incorporated in the Constitution.
